The Construction Materials Testing Technician  is responsible for conducting materials testing—including soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt—in both field and laboratory environments. This role requires close coordination with the Darwin Laboratory Manager, Duty Technician, or Field Coordinator to complete assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and to client and company standards.

Task & responsibilities

• Liaise with Darwin Laboratory Manager and/or Darwin Duty Technician and/or Field Coordinator to be assigned tasks
• Undertake checks & calibrations on testing equipment where required
• Attend toolbox meetings as required
• Monitor your work email address for updates from the company
• Provide high standard of customer service
• Complete field testing, laboratory testing & reporting when required. Testing can include Soils, Aggregates, Concrete & Asphalt.
• Efficient use of resources
• Be responsible for the performance and productivity of yourself. This includes but is not limited to; ensuring you are completing testing within time frames, minimum work load for the day is completed
• Ensure field testing is done in a timely manner and to the clients / specified requirements
• Comply, implement, and promote safe work practices
• Always Comply to HIQA’S Safe Driving Policy
• Ensure all jobs delivered conform to HiQA’s Safe ty Policies
• Ensure all outside areas & the Laboratory are kept in a clean and tidy order

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in Laboratory Operations or equivalent
• Successful completion of HiQA’s core/basic Practical Assessments
• Successful completion of HiQA’s core/basic Theory Exams
• 2 years of full-time experience in construction materials testing
