Looking to re-enter the sheet metal industry as an apprentice?
East Coast Apprenticeships is seeking a 3rd year apprentice to join our team and work alongside experienced tradespeople to acquire valuable skills in the sheet metal industry and become trade qualified!
Sheet metal fabrication is a specialised trade that is in high demand, and we offer you the opportunity to become a skilled worker in this field. With the constant demand for sheet metal fabricators in industries such as construction, HVAC, and aerospace, this apprenticeship provides an exciting and stable career path.
With the support of qualified trades people, you will be:
· Studying drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures
· Measuring materials using various tools such as rulers, tapes, and micrometers
· Cutting, bending, shaping, and joining sheet metal using various tools such as shears, press brakes, and welding machines
· Operating computer-aided design (CAD) and computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce sheet metal parts and components
· Preparing surfaces for finishing by cleaning, grinding, or sanding
· Assembling and installing sheet metal products and components
· Troubleshooting and repairing sheet metal products and components
· Collaborating with team members to ensure efficient and safe production processes
· Following safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment
· Maintaining tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
· Any other tasks requested by the host employer
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must have:
· A genuine interest in the sheet metal industry and a desire to learn and develop new skills
· A basic understanding of maths, measurements, and technical drawings
· Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
· Physical fitness and the ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment
· A strong commitment to workplace health and safety practices
· A reliable and punctual work ethic
· Good communication skills and the ability to take direction from experienced tradespeople
· Completed or be currently undertaking relevant technical or vocational education and training, such as a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways or similar is highly desirable
· A minimum P1 drivers licence and access to a vehicle
· A construction white card or able to obtain one ASAP
