The Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll support the day-to-day accounts function with a strong focus on Accounts Payable, while also gaining exposure to broader accounting duties. Key responsibilities include:
Accounts Payable
- Process and verify invoices with appropriate approvals;
- Match purchase orders, invoices, and delivery dockets;
- Prepare payment runs (EFT, BPAY, Cheques) in line with supplier terms;
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies; and
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date creditor records and filing systems.
General Accounts Support
- Assist with accounts receivable tasks such as raising invoices and follow-ups;
- Perform bank reconciliations and data entry into accounting systems;
- Process staff reimbursements and credit card reconciliations;
- Support month-end tasks, including journal entries;
- Liaise with suppliers and internal departments on finance matters; and
- Maintain the general ledger and assist with audit preparation.
The Successful Applicant
Within the context of the role described. The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following expertise:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounts payable or a similar role
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar);
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy;
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills;
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities; and
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
