Primary objective
Deliver professional front office services including high level administrative support to the Business Manager, Senior
Operations Manager, Principal and teaching staff in a busy and demanding school environment.
Context statement
Casuarina Senior College is an Independent Public School, located in the Darwin Northern Suburbs. CSC has a student
enrolment of approximately 800 students, with 25 per cent identifying as Aboriginal. CSC caters for students in Years 10 to
12 by offering a wide range of Stage 1 and 2 NTCET subjects. The College is a Centre for Excellence in the Medical and
Health Sciences and STEM (Science, Technology, English and Maths) areas.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Perform word processing, data entry, administrative and other tasks as directed by the Business Manager
2. Deliver professional front office assistance, including answering calls, greeting visitors, and managing the hire of school
facilities.
3. Undertake data entry and management of school data systems to ensure accurate maintenance of all manual and
computerised student records.
4. Assist with enrolment enquiries, provide general advice ensuring accuracy of paperwork is provided and booking
enrolment appointments with year coordinators.
5. Organisation of student events and ceremonies that include graduation, awards nights and general celebrations.
6. Provide support to the Administration Coordinator in various college publications including college handbooks, annual
college yearbook and subject flyers.
7. Provide first aid to students and staff as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively with people
from diverse cultures and work well with a wide range of people with tact and discretion.
2. Demonstrated experience in a busy and demanding administrative role in a senior schoolwork environment with the
ability to diffuse difficult and complex situations.
3. Demonstrated computer literacy skills including experience with various office applications and student databases
4. Demonstrated strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate large events and successfully liaise with
stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in designing and preparing quality publications, with proficiency in desktop
publishing applications and other computer programs and web publishing platforms.
Desirable
1. Sound knowledge of the Department of Education’s enrolment procedures.
2. Hold a current driver’s licence.
