An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified candidate to join the Access & Intake team at Portland District Health.

As an Administration Officer, you are a vital member of the Primary Care team. Your responsibilities align with supporting staff, team and clients to get the service they require at the right time and in the right place. This position will be supporting PDH Primary Care Services team. Your responsibilities encompass high-level front line customer service, with accurate recording and collection of critical data and ensuring efficient administration processes. It involves working within a team and liaising with clients, visitors, staff and health professionals. Good problem solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills are essential. A helpful, respectful and approachable attitude is expected.

About you:

  • Certificate III in Business administration regarded favourably
  • Demonstrated Administrative clerical experience
  • Demonstrated high computer literacy with data entry skills
  • Ability to determine priorities, multi-task and organise workload effectively and efficiently
  • Striving for a high standard of excellence with work processes and outcomes
  • Striving for high customer satisfaction with a helpful and friendly attitude when interacting with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in using a variety of computer software programs
  • Ability to adopt workplace wellness principles ensuring mental and physical self-care
  • Ability to demonstrate PDH values and mission in daily practice
  • Cert III or Cert IV in Business administration regarded favourably
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and prior experience in health services an advantage

Portland District Health (PDH) provides an integrated health service for the community. The hospital was established in 1856 on the current site and now provides a comprehensive range of services that include:

  • Hospital based Medical and Surgical services, Medical Imaging (Radiology), Pharmacy and Pathology
  • A 24/7 Urgent Care Centre for emergency treatment
  • Residential aged care for 30 residents at Harbourside Lodge

PDH delivers services from a single campus, employs around 470 staff with an FTE of approximately 290, and has an active volunteer workforce. The People and Culture Unit sits within the Corporate Services Directorate, with other Units including Finance, Building Services, Food Services, Environmental Services, Executive Support, Administration and Health Information.
