Based in the Waratah Clinic, the role is ideal for clinicians to build their skills and experience in community-based mental health care. About the role:

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and develop treatment formulations in collaboration with the Consultant Psychiatrist and clinical team
  • Create and implement recovery-focused care plans with consumers, families, and carers
  • Provide evidence-based interventions tailored to older adults with complex mental health and age-related needs
  • Communicate effectively with consumers, families, carers, colleagues, and external providers
  • Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Deliver intensive community-based clinical care, including mental status exams, risk and safety management, medication support, crisis response, and management of acute deterioration

About you:

Formal Qualifications

  • This is a multidisciplinary role open to Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Social Worker, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist (must hold relevant degree, registration and/or membership as per attached Position Description)

Essential

  • Minimum two years post-graduate experience in mental health assessment and treatment or currently undertaking a registrar program
  • Valid driver’s license and ongoing ability to drive
  • Experience in community-based mental health care for older adults, including dementia care, dual diagnosis, and evidence-based interventions, with knowledge of Victorian mental health policies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse consumers, families, and service providers
  • Commitment to professional development, legal compliance, and registration, with strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
  • Skilled in clinical documentation and reports; collaborative, person-centred care approach

Desirable

  • Ability to speak a second relevant language would be well regarded
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are highly encouraged to apply
  • Familiarity with a range of computer software packages including the Microsoft platform
  • Relevant experience in working with older adults
