Who we’re looking for

Newmont is undergoing a significant scope of organisation redesign and the Category Management team in Australia are seeking to fill several newly created positions of Advisor, Contracts.

Reporting to Regional Category Management, the positions are vital to facilitate contract execution and to ensure regional contracts are compliant with standards, are effectively managed and align with Newmont’s global procurement strategies.

Other key responsibilities will be (but not limited) to:
  • Administer the full lifecycle of contracts and assist the Category Management Lead in implementing category strategies to ensure appropriate contracts are in place for sourcing materials and services to meet strategic objectives
  • Administer strategic sourcing strategies for goods and services that adhere to Newmont’s Strategic Sourcing Playbook
  • Collaborate effectively with suppliers to ensure open communication, timely resolution of any contract-related or performance issues and facilitate favourable negotiation in contract terms
  • Oversee contracts and procurement activities within sub-category to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory and company policies, and assess risks, legal liabilities and/or performance issues
  • Report on contract status, performance and compliance and support development of regional procurement methodologies based on contract performance insights.
To be considered suitable applicants will have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Law, or related
  • Solid understanding of sourcing professional services, strategic sourcing, negotiations, contracts administration and management of services and goods within large scale mining, oil and gas and/or heavy industry environments
  • Knowledge of legal principles governing contracts in procurement and supply chain
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement strategies, sourcing methods and supply chain management processes
  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards, regulations and compliance requirements i.e. safety, environmental and/or legal
  • Understanding of budgeting, cost control and financial aspects of contracts including pricing and payment structures
  • Previous vendor performance experience including dispute and contractor management
  • Proficient in the use of contract management software, SAP and/or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Applicable experience in monitoring contractor performance, managing KPIs, conducting contract audits and/or reviews
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft applications including Excel
These full-time permanent positions will be offered on a flexible hybrid work arrangement, ideally based out of Newmont’s Subiaco office hub in Perth, Western Australia. It will be essential to have full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia.
