About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for an Asset Officer to work as part of the Blue Mountains Branch team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal cultural heritage.

As the Asset Officer, you will provide expert advice and guidance on the management of assets through the asset management systems. You will assist operational and delivery teams by providing accurate and detailed asset data and analysis and deliver training and user support. You will support the Senior Asset Officer to develop and deliver asset management planning, inform funding bids, and support good asset management of both fixed and mobile asset decision making via reporting and making recommendations to field and professional staff.


About You

To be successful in the role, you will have a demonstrated ability to provide support and guidance to geographically distributed teams and programs with a high degree of autonomy, initiative and interpersonal skills. You will have adept experience in the capture, analysis, organisation and quality control of asset data using your advanced skills in data management and analysis programs and tools. With your adept communication skills, you will be able to learn and assists others learn how to use asset management and associated systems.


Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in asset management frameworks and systems including program supervision, coordination and data management
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with and coordinating staff or contractors undertaking asset maintenance and construction activities.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the application of construction codes, safe work practices and risk management in the construction and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial reporting requirements for capital projects as well as an understanding of risk management principles as they apply to maintenance and construction of infrastructure and assets.
  • Understanding of the legislation applying to protected area management, contract management, Workplace Health and Safety, construction standards and environmental planning.
  • A current Australian driver’s licence.
