PURPOSE:

The Assistant Accountant assists with overseeing and leading the finance team operations in providing accurate financial data, analysis, and insights to assist in the company’s financial planning, decision-making, and overall business performance. This position will involve working closely with Company accountant, Financial Controller and other departments to maintain financial records, analyse performance trends and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role encompasses all aspects of the finance department including but not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Timely and accurate financial reporting: ensure all financial reports are delivered on time, with a high level of accuracy, to support effective decision-making.

2.    Cost Control and Profitability Analysis:

  • Monitor departmental and intercompany entries to ensure that all costs are allocated correctly, proposing corrective actions where necessary.

  • Cost management and control: contribute to improved cost management by identifying errors in processing, proposing corrective actions where necessary.

3.    Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Support the implementation of internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with local legislation and internal policies, preparing for audits and handling any inquiries.

  • Compliance and audit preparation: Ensure adherence to financial policies, company legislation, and industry standards, supporting successful audit outcomes.

4.    Leadership

  • Coach, develop and inspire our team to propel our workplace culture and operations.

  • Lead by example to drive consistency and compliance across the network.

  • Collaboratively operate with internal and external stakeholders to create trusting relationships.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with and influence people at all levels.

  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt to changing environments, maintaining a positive. and effective leadership approach during period of transition and uncertainty.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and management accounting practices.

  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software

  • Knowledge of cost accounting and budgeting methods.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to present financial data clearly and effectively.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
