Assistant Accountant – Local Council | Hybrid Arrangement

Our client, a prominent local government body, is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their team on an initial 3-month temporary contract with the potential for extension. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to apply their financial expertise in a public sector environment. This is a hybrid position.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and process financial transactions, including accruals, journals, and allowancesReview and validate incoming invoices and manage vendor creationCollect relevant data and update financial recordsAssist with financial reporting and reconcile transactions as requiredSupport payroll, journal entries, and user access management
Job Qualifications:
Previous experience in a similar role within a public sector, not-for-profit, education, or healthcare settingExperience with TechnologyOne or CIAnywhere is highly desirableTertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or Business Studies
