About the role
Are you skilled in undertaking complex business audits and investigations? Are you a critical thinker, with a keen eye for detail while having the ability to understand and analyse financial documentation? Can you interpret, and effectively apply legislation and case law in support of your investigative decisions?

If this sounds like you, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic Business Taxes team, as an Assistant Compliance Officer in Revenue NSW.

You will play a crucial role in conducting complex audits and investigations to ensure our customers adhere to relevant laws and policies. You will undertake research, review complex financial documents, make critical decisions, and provide customers with in-depth education on compliance related matters. Your attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to communicate effectively is vital in this role.


Your day-to-day

  • Meeting customers or their external representatives such as accountants at their place of business, conduct interviews and reviewing key documents.
  • Analyse customer information from various external and internal data sources and write reports with your recommendations.
  • Advise customers of audit conclusions and work in collaboration with them to meet their obligations.
  • Deliver customer focused education and connect them to relevant educational resources.
  • Regularly travel within the Sydney region where our customers are predominately located, and from time-to-time travel to areas outside of Sydney.


To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or a related field
  • Ability to interpret financial documents and analyse information
  • Proven experience in compliance or within a similar role
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret legislation and relevant taxation laws
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate others on compliance matters
  • Detail-orientated and organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to maintain confidentiality.

Salary Grade 5/6, with the base salary for this role starting at $97,027 base plus superannuation
