The jewel in the crown at Pfeiffer Wines are the world class fortified wines that we produce. We are part of a small number of wineries producing the iconic Rutherglen Muscat.

We are seeking an assistant winemaker to join our dynamic team. Our winery is a busy place with the strong fortified wine programme ensuring a consistent flow of work through the year.

Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, this is a hands-on role that will be responsible for coordinating cellar operations, supervising the winery team and managing the laboratory. With the support of a family business, as well as mentorship from industry leaders, there is great potential for professional development and to establish a strong winemaking career.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Wine Science, Applied Science, Oenology;
  • At least 2 years’ harvest experience:
  • Competency with modern software systems;
  • Solid laboratory skills;
  • Proactive involvement with the broader wine community;
  • Good understanding and drive for wine excellence.
  • Solid palate & understanding of international wine styles;
  • Strong organisation, communication and leadership skills;
  • Creative and energetic approach;
  • Proactive, with attention to detail;
  • Operational efficiency and an eye for business improvement;
  • Physically capable of performing active cellar duties;
  • Valid forklift and driver’s licence;
  • Ability to work extended hours when required;
  • Capacity for light domestic travel.
