• Step Up With Support This role is designed for a lawyer who can confidently identify, plan, and advise on house and garden family law matters. While we will encourage you to handle matters independently where possible, complex strategy, litigation planning, and complex drafting will be approached collaboratively with the Principal and senior team to ensure accurate advice and service at the highest standard.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Assisting with the management of property and parenting matters, with assistance from the Principal and Senior lawyer, as needed and subject to complexity • Providing timely, practical advice across all stages of a matter • Drafting court documents, affidavits, consent orders, binding financial agreements, binding child support agreements and client correspondence • Preparing for and attending court events and mediations • Working with Counsel, experts, and external professionals • Assisting in complex matters • Supporting junior team members where appropriate • Accurately scoping, time recording, and managing workflow
About You
You’re a confident family lawyer with solid experience and sound instincts, looking to take the next step in a role that offers growth with appropriate supervision and guidance from seniors.
You are:
• Experienced: 2+ years’ PAE in family law, including exposure to both parenting and property matters • Proactive: Capable of progressing matters independently, while knowing when to seek input and assistance from senior lawyers. • Strategic: Confident in your judgment and able to contribute to the overall legal strategy on files • Detail-Oriented: Committed to producing accurate, clear and well-drafted work • Client-Focused: Professional and empathetic in supporting clients through complex issues • Team-Oriented: Collaborative and generous with your knowledge and support
What Success Looks Like
At 1 Month: • You’re immersed in our firm’s systems, tone, and client service model • You’ve shadowed client conferences with senior practitioners and are contributing to post-conference drafting and day-to-day management of files • You’re confidently progressing assigned tasks while becoming familiar with your own active filesAt 3 Months: • You’re independently handling basic client conferences and managing day-to-day file work • You’re preparing for court events and engaging with Counsel and experts • You’re contributing to complex matters where neededAt 6 Months: • You’re managing a steady caseload autonomously and handling client relationships confidently • You’re contributing to litigation planning and settlement strategy on more complex matters • You’re supporting junior team members and helping drive efficient, client-focused outcomes across the practice
Summary of must have Experience
• 2–4 years’ post-admission experience in family law • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Experience managing files and advising clients independently • A proactive mindset and desire for continuous improvement • A strong commitment to client service and practical outcomes
