About the role
Justice Kidd is seeking a legally qualified individual to be his associate commencing in April/May 2025. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in civil and criminal appellate work in the Court of Appeal division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, and to closely observe the work of advocates and the judiciary.
The duties of an associate are detailed in the attached position description but specifically include:
The role requires a high degree of sensitivity and professionalism as you will be working closely with judicial officers, court staff, legal practitioners and members of the public.
About you
The successful applicant must be admitted to legal practice; 12 to 18 months post‑admission experience in criminal law is desirable but not essential. Excellent research, writing and typing skills, proficiency in grammar and a strong academic record are essential. One or more of: experience on the editorial committee of a university law journal; mooting; research work for an academic; and/or a higher degree in law, are preferred but not essential.
