About the Role

In this role, reporting directly to the Business Development Director, you will manage a portfolio of national accounts, developing strong relationships with key industry influencers and decision-makers. From lead generation to bid conversion, you will be responsible for driving sales through telemarketing, client meetings, interstate sales calls, and trade show attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture relationships with national associations, conference organisers, and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals and bid documents.
  • Convert leads into confirmed conference bookings.
  • Achieve and exceed sales conversion targets.
  • Represent the Cairns Convention Centre at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with local specialists and industry bodies to strengthen bid proposals.
  • Conduct market research and provide competitor insights.
  • Maintain accurate records through CRM systems.

You’re flexible and adventurous, willing to travel (including weekends and evenings) to pursue new opportunities. Detail-oriented and highly organised, you know how to juggle multiple priorities while keeping everything on track.  This is an onsite position.

Skills and Experience required

  • 5+ years in a sales role, ideally within Business Events, Conventions, or Hospitality.
  • Business Degree in Sales & Marketing or Hospitality (desirable).
  • Strong negotiation, persuasion, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding KPIs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyse sales leads and develop winning strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and CRM systems.
