Reports to: GM of Retail & Merchandise

Job Purpose: As a Buyer for Eden Gardens & Gro Urban Oasis you are responsible for achieving budgeted sales and profit across our private label ranges and branded products through, the effective sourcing and selection of high-quality Greenlife & Allied merchandise. You are instrumental in ensuring stock levels are maintained to target and continuously building strong supplier relationships, sourcing and, developing the best possible products that drive sales and deliver a point of difference for our brand.

Key responsibilities of the role are:

Ranging:

  • Managing and using strategies to achieve the financial plans including sales, profit and stock turn through effective sourcing & selection of all Greenlife, Allied and Production categories associated with this Buyership.
  • Source best quality Greenlife and set clear quality guidelines for our suppliers to meet
  • Develop & maintain strong supplier relationships to source stock at the best price, and negotiate exclusive and first-availability opportunities
  • Using commercial skills, combined with the ability to analyse customer's needs and research to effectively implement the merchandise strategy to drive continual development and long-term strategic growth
  • Seasonal reviews to drive performance, sourcing and future-ranging price decisions
  • Review & implement price changes in line with market and margin targets
  • Ability to recognise, interpret trends and build ranges to ensure consistent brand handwriting with the appropriate balance of price, quality, and innovation

Inventory Management:

  • Work closely with the stock replenishment team to ensure consistent replenishment of core ranges to avoid any lost sales through bestseller out-of-stock
  • Maintain JIT (Just in Time) replenishment of all Greenlife to ensure sell-through of stock before the decline
  • Ensure stock levels support VM requirements and are aligned with target
  • Ensure all seasonal, campaign & promo products are delivered on time
  • Propose promotional and clearance activity on aged stock and overstock lines
  • Raise accurate and timely POs in conjunction with the stock replenishment team and coordinate credit notes/stock returns if and where necessary
  • Coordinate the creation of New SKUs in line with naming convention guidelines

Teamwork and communication:

  • Work alongside other department members and key stakeholders to support the business objectives
  • Is the first point of contact for all Greenlife, Allied & Production queries
  • Work with the wider buying & marketing team to coordinate and ensure successful promotional activities are planned and achieved
  • Shares product knowledge through product guides, training and presentations
  • Liaise with Marketing, E-Comm, Production & Warehouse teams on newness and product information
  • Communicate processes and procedures clearly and follow up to ensure correct execution
  • Supports a collaborative working culture through their role across all levels
  • Appreciates growth, change and evolution are part of all businesses, and actively supports change in products and processes as the business grows

This role is also responsible for the management of the Production team, ensuring weekly targets are meet whilst creating and driving new product development to support the continued success of this business unit.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
  • Have the ability to multi-task and perform under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Competent numerical, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Able to determine own priorities with the adaptability to changing priorities as required to meet deadlines
  • A collaborator and team player
  • Previous experience in the merchandise or retail industry is a plus.
  • Experience with merchandise software systems is a plus.
  • Must be Proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular, Excel

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $95,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year
