Benefits

The remuneration for this position is AUD 115,000 - AUD 125,000 per annum plus superannuation.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Measuring, cutting, and assembling wood and other building materials to construct precise frameworks, formwork, and supports for concrete installations, ensuring adherence to design specifications, alignment, and required slopes for proper drainage.
  • Erecting and dismantling sturdy, reinforced formwork for concrete pours that will remain stable under the weight of wet concrete, used for footpaths, foundations, walls, patios, or outdoor stairs.
  • Selecting appropriate materials such as timber, plywood, or other cost-effective yet durable options for formwork, ensuring both structural integrity and project efficiency.
  • Laying out concrete pours, preparing surfaces, and finishing concrete to ensure correct grading, drainage, and professional aesthetics, particularly for high-visibility areas like public footpaths.
  • Constructing, repairing, and installing outdoor structures such as walls, roof trusses, and floor joists, ensuring durability and compliance with structural design and building codes.
  • Installing and assembling fixtures and fittings, including doors, windows, and stairs, with careful attention to secure attachments and proper alignment.
  • Ensuring safety and stability in formwork construction, adhering to local building codes and safety protocols to protect workers and project integrity.
  • Reading and interpreting building plans and specifications, determining dimensions, materials, and installation procedures for varied construction tasks.
  • Collaborating efficiently with other tradespeople, including masons and labourers, to ensure timely project completion and coordination of tasks.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work area, following site safety regulations and industry standards

Qualifications & experience

Qualifications: 
- Certificate III in Carpentry

Experience: 
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a carpenter

Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Understanding of safety regulations and adherence to safe work practices
