Our Client in Somerton requires the services of an experienced Carpenter/Cabinetmaker.
Position Overview:
The Carpenter will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing wooden structures and fixtures in compliance with building codes and safety regulations. The role requires expertise in measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling timber components, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship in all work.
The Cabinetmaker is responsible for designing, constructing, assembling, and installing custom cabinetry and furniture. This role requires expertise in working with wood and other materials to create high-quality, precision-crafted pieces, ensuring that all projects meet design specifications and safety standards.

Tasks & responsibilities
CARPENTER
- Review technical drawings and specifications to determine material requirements, dimensions, and installation methods for wooden structures and fixtures.
- Select, order, and prepare timbers and materials to meet project needs.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials to create structural components such as frameworks, sub-flooring, roof framing, and flooring.
- Erect frameworks, including walls, ceilings, and roofs, and verify the accuracy and alignment of structures.
- Install external and internal fixtures such as doors, windows, fascia panels, and wall cladding.
- Ensure the installation of structural elements and finishes adheres to the required quality, safety standards, and building codes.
- Install and secure timber joints, and assemble various wood components to create final structures and fittings.
- May construct concrete formwork when required for specific projects.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance of existing structures and fittings as needed.
- Ensure that all work areas and tools are kept safe, clean, and well-maintained.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects.
CABINETMAKER
- Study technical drawings and specifications to determine the design, materials, and dimensions for custom cabinetry and furniture.
- Select and order appropriate timbers, veneers, and other materials, ensuring quality and suitability for the intended project.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble timber and other materials to create cabinetry, shelving units, furniture, and other custom wood pieces.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment, including saws, routers, drills, and other machinery, to complete tasks with precision.
- Install cabinets, countertops, and other custom-built fixtures in homes, offices, or commercial settings.
- Ensure that all wood pieces are finished to a high standard, including sanding, staining, painting, or polishing as required.
- Assemble and install hardware such as hinges, handles, and locks, ensuring correct functionality and alignment.
- Conduct repairs and refurbishments on existing cabinetry or furniture, restoring or replacing damaged or worn parts.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to safety protocols and ensuring the proper maintenance of tools and equipment.
Qualifications & experience
CARPENTER
- Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent qualification (essential).
- Proven experience as a carpenter (typically 2-3 years), with proficiency in various carpentry techniques.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Familiarity with building codes, construction safety standards, and regulations.
- Experience working with a variety of materials, including wood, plywood, and other construction materials.
- Forklift and Crane licenses (desirable for material handling).
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and in a team.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on producing high-quality craftsmanship.
CABINETMAKER
- Certificate III in Cabinetmaking or equivalent qualification (essential).
- Proven experience as a cabinetmaker (typically 2-3 years), with proficiency in various cabinetmaking and woodworking techniques.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints for custom cabinetry and furniture design.
- Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices in cabinetry and furniture construction.
- Experience working with a variety of materials, including wood, plywood, MDF, laminates, and veneers.
- Forklift and Crane licenses (desirable for material handling).
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team, ensuring project timelines are met.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality craftsmanship and finishes.
