The business is looking to add a skilled Chef to their team. As a Chef at Green Olive, you will be responsible for creating and preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining kitchen standards, and ensuring a smooth and efficient kitchen operation. You will work closely with other kitchen staff to produce exceptional meals and contribute to the overall success of the restaurant.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals to a high standard, ensuring consistency and quality at all times
  • Oversee kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards
  • Manage food inventory, including ordering and stock control
  • Create and develop new menu items in collaboration with the kitchen team
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff as required
  • Work efficiently under pressure to meet service times
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment
  • Monitor food wastage and ensure cost-effectiveness

Qualifications & experience

  • Cert IV in Commercial Cookery
  • At least 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations, with a commitment to compliance.
  • Experience in planning and executing promotional menus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing stock levels, inventory control, and waste reduction.

About Company

Green Olive is a dining establishment located at Traralgon, Victoria. Since its opening in 2009, it has become a favored venue for both the local community and visitors. The bistro accommodates up to 180 guests, with an additional alfresco deck area seating up to 80 guests. Families appreciate the indoor kids' play area, enhancing the dining experience for those with children. Green Olive operates seven days a week, serving lunch from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and dinner from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

Over the years, Green Olive has received recognition from the AHA, including being a finalist for Best Family Dining in Victoria in 2012, 2013, and 2014, and winning the award in 2011.
