Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

The role involves a mix of technical design work, site support, and quality assurance. Tasks include:

Preparing sketches, technical drawings, charts, and design plans for construction projects involving stone elements such as benchtops, wall claddings, facades, vanities, and fireplaces.

Assisting in the design and detailing of structural elements related to stone installation, ensuring compliance with engineering principles, load tolerances, and project specifications.

Performing and supervising fieldwork, site measurements, and assessments prior to fabrication and installation phases.

Interpreting work instructions, applying appropriate industry and safety procedures, and selecting correct tools, equipment, and installation techniques for each project.

Collecting and analysing data such as site conditions, structural supports, fixing requirements, and material limitations to inform design solutions.

Estimating quantities, materials, and production timeframes, and ensuring all works remain within regulatory, contractual, and quality specifications.

Coordinating with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution from design through to installation.

Inspecting civil engineering works on-site, and supervising or conducting maintenance and repair work for completed stone installations.

Conducting field and laboratory tests of construction materials (e.g., adhesives, grouts, reinforcement) and preparing compliance reports where necessary.

Supporting traffic surveys and logistics planning for delivery and handling of large-format stone products to ensure safe and efficient on-site assembly

Qualification & experience

Skills & Experience Required

Diploma (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Drafting.

Minimum 2 years of relevant, full-time, post-qualification experience in a civil engineering or construction environment.

Familiarity with AutoCAD or other CAD software, and ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.

Experience in material testing, site supervision, and compliance assessments.

Strong understanding of construction techniques and material behaviour, particularly with stone, concrete, and surface finishes.

Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
