About the Role

The position is required to carry out maintenance, construction and installation services for Council’s commercial electrical equipment and assets and provide information and guidance on electrical installations for Council and its customers.

Use your experience and skill to provide supervision and guidance to the next generation of electrical apprentices and perform specialised duties as required.

Participating in the on-call roster may be required at times along with performing overtime as required.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be a Qualified Tradesperson as an Electrical Fitter Mechanic Queensland with high level knowledge and experience in planning and performing electrical repairs, maintenance, modifications, fault finding and installation work unsupervised.

You will also have:

  • High level of knowledge of electronic/electrical systems, SAA wiring rules, current Queensland Electrical Safety Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice and relevant Australian Standards including AS/NZS:3000.
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications and complex circuit diagrams.
  • Ability to work as part of a team under continual changing priorities.
  • Intermediate computer skills to use Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use Council’s Business Management Systems or similar systems.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communications skills in customer correspondence and report writing.
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with internal or external customers, the general public and experience in training apprentices.
  • Current “C” class driver’s licence (“MR” class driver’s licence desirable)
  • Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD)
  • Able to become a Qualified Person on Council’s electrical contractor’s licence
  • EWP licence and Traffic Management is desirable
