Commercial Finance Manager

About the role

Join the Protecht Group as a Commercial Finance Manager in our vibrant Sydney office. In this full-time role, you will play a critical role in driving Protecht’s financial strategy. Leveraging your expertise in strategic planning and financial analysis, you will work closely with cross functional teams and to enable data-driven decisions, enhance financial planning, and contribute to the strategic growth of the company within the SaaS business model.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare, analyse, and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models for SaaS business operations.

• Track and report revenue streams, ensuring accurate recognition in line with SaaS-specific accounting principles.

• Analyse financial and business data to uncover trends, variances, and areas for improvement and provide actionable insights for decision-making.

• Monitor and report on key performance metrics such as MRR, ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue), churn, and customer acquisition costs (CAC).

• Continually review metrics and ensure alignment to performance drivers, recommending changes as needed.

• Perform cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the impact of business decisions and identify cost optimisation opportunities.

• Act as a commercial business partner and collaborate with various departments (Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations) to align financial plans with business goals.

• Provide analysis and recommendations for pricing reviews and new product pricing strategies.

• Generate and present regular financial reports, variance analyses, and strategic insights to senior leadership, key stakeholders and the Board of Directors.

• Identify financial risks and recommend strategies to mitigate them while ensuring compliance with regulations.

What we're looking for

• 7+ years of experience in a commercial finance management role, preferably within a SaaS business or technology company.

• High level of financial commercial acumen.

• In-depth understanding of SaaS financial metrics.

• Advanced skills in financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting.

• Experience in subscription-based pricing models and understanding of customer lifecycle metrics.

• Demonstrated experience in financial reporting to different groups.

• Advanced skills in Excel, including data analysis and complex modelling.

• Proven ability to provide strategic financial insights and drive commercial decision-making.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable insights

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• CPA, CFA, or equivalent financial certification.
