Hi, I'm Brenda and I'm a Community Support Worker at Southcare. My job is to make people smile!

I provide essential in-home care to older people who need help so they can stay living independently at home. That means delivering aged care services based on individual's needs.

This makes my work interesting with my day consisting of different people and varying care services like social support, helping with housework, driving to appointments, doing personal care, administering medication, making meals and more.  It is a rewarding job knowing that I make people feel valued and always respected and that I am making a difference in the community, every day.   Our customers require Support Workers to be able to provide services in Fremantle, Bicton, Palmyra, Booragoon, Hamilton Hill, Mt Pleasant, Bibra lake etc.

If you would like a job like mine, you will need to be available to work in Fremantle and surrounding areas (Fremantle, Bicton, Palmyra, Booragoon, Hamilton Hill, Mt. Pleasant, Bibra Lake) be able to give 3 days availability plus more if you wish.   You will also need to have the following essential skills, knowledge, and qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Aged Care or equivalent
  • Previous work experience in providing care and services in the community
  • Proven attention to detail when providing services to our customers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with our customers
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out the physical requirements of the Community Support Worker
  • National Police Clearance meeting the requirements of the Aged Care Act (less than 3 months old)
  • Flexibility and availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week (weekdays with additional weekend work)
  • West Australian Driver’s licence
  • Well maintained vehicle and Third-Party Vehicle insurance
  •  Computer literacy with demonstrated knowledge/understanding of electronic Customer information systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of person-centred care
  • Willingness to work within Southcare’s Purpose and Values
