About the role

Pardelup Prison is a minimum-security prison situated approximately 27km west of Mount Barker. The farm is a 6,300-acre breeding property which supports and promotes the philosophy of a community reintegration facility for prisoners, combining three elements: the strong community focus of a work camp, the structured custodial environment of a traditional prison and the emphasis on reintegration that will be an increasingly important feature of all prisons in the future.

The VSO Construction Maintenance Instructor is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all prison infrastructure. This includes the routine and regular monitoring, maintenance and water testing of the water supply infrastructure including the compound water supply and wastewater treatment plant.

The position will undertake, instruct and supervise the Prison Maintenance and Structural Maintenance Work Parties for the prison. The position will provide supervision of the timber fabrication industry where required by prison management and is responsible for prisoners in all facets of the Prison Maintenance work industry at the prison.

• Salary scales increase to $89,654 - $97,144 p.a. as of 11 June 2025, and then again to $93,016 - $100,787 p.a. as of 11 June 2026.
