Kalahari Wanneroo, a leading South African café located in Perth’s northern suburbs, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing, culturally rich business that is bringing authentic African flavours to the Western Australian dining scene.
The successful candidate must be available to work the following:
Monday to Saturday – Morning and Afternoon shifts

Tasks & responsibilities
- Prepare and cook authentic South African and international menu items
- Modify recipes to meet customer dietary needs, allergies, or intolerances
- Estimate food requirements and maintain kitchen inventory, supply orders, and records
- Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and food safety standards
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas
- Manage kitchen operations efficiently and support team coordination
- Contribute to menu planning and innovation in line with the café’s culinary identity
- Train and support junior kitchen staff as needed
Qualifications & experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant cooking or kitchen experience
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food preparation, and food safety standards
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Passion for cultural cuisine, especially South African food, is highly regarded
