Kalahari Wanneroo, a leading South African café located in Perth’s northern suburbs, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing, culturally rich business that is bringing authentic African flavours to the Western Australian dining scene.

The successful candidate must be available to work the following:

Monday to Saturday – Morning and Afternoon shifts

Full-time hours guaranteed

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook authentic South African and international menu items
  • Modify recipes to meet customer dietary needs, allergies, or intolerances
  • Estimate food requirements and maintain kitchen inventory, supply orders, and records
  • Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and food safety standards
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Manage kitchen operations efficiently and support team coordination
  • Contribute to menu planning and innovation in line with the café’s culinary identity
  • Train and support junior kitchen staff as needed

Qualifications & experience

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant cooking or kitchen experience
  • AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food preparation, and food safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
  • Passion for cultural cuisine, especially South African food, is highly regarded
