We are a vibrant and diverse inner-city council stretching 20kms from South to Port Melbourne along the stunning bay beaches down to Elwood and out to St Kilda East with around 1000 people who all work together to deliver more than 100 programs and services to our engaged community of residents, businesses and visitors. What’s the role all about 

Are you a passionate and driven Cyber Security Analyst looking to contribute to the organisation cyber security that will benefit our community? This exciting new role will see you support the business in ensuring the security of our IT infrastructure, identifying and mitigating potential threats, and implementing robust security measures. You will work closely with various teams to enhance our security posture and respond to security incidents effectively.

What you might do 

• Conduct daily monitoring of cyber security tools and system vulnerabilities.
• Work on priority 1 incident for ICT Strategy and Information team, and cyber security alerts.
• Gathering and documenting information for application security risk assessment.
• Provide support in conducting audit to address organisational risks and cyber security.
• Assist in maintaining the overall GRC Framework, policies, and standards across the Digital and Technology Services division in compliance with the relevant legislation, procedures, and policies.

Who we are looking for 

• Tertiary qualifications in ICT discipline along with extensive relevant experience in cyber security. Licenses, certificates or degrees. 
• Experienced in managing cyber security and threats for medium of large organisation. 
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders that may not be familiar with technical concepts or matters. 
• Understanding of Victorian Cyber Security strategy, Essential 8 framework, NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) cyber security framework, and VPDSS (Victorian Protective Data Security Standards). 
• Experienced in risk management, with the capacity to develop strong understanding of the local government industry.
