Data Centre Engineer

Data Centre Engineer (NV1/NV2) We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Engineer to join our client in the defence space. You must have experience working in Defence and NV1 or NV2 Clearance. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise data centre infrastructure while ensuring high availability, security, and efficiency. This role requires expertise in VMware VCF stack engineering, automation, and enterprise server management. Key Responsibilities Design, deploy, and manage data centre solutions, including compute, storage, and networking components.Engineer and support VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) stack deployments.Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Ansible.Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server and RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) environments.Manage and maintain Active Directory, ensuring security and compliance best practices.Support and optimize data centre storage, backup, and archive solutions.Develop high-quality engineering designs and documentation for infrastructure projects.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and operational efficiency. Required Experience & Skills Experience working in the Defence industry (or highly regulated environments).Strong expertise in VMware VCF stack engineering.Proficiency in Ansible automation for infrastructure management.Hands-on experience with Windows Server and RHEL administration.Deep understanding of Active Directory architecture and security best practices.Knowledge of data centre storage, backup, and archive solutions.Ability to write engineering designs and technical documentation.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and within a team. Desirable Skills & Qualifications VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP, VCDX).Experience with security compliance frameworks (e.g., Essential 8, ISM, NIST).Scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Python, or Bash.Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud solutions).Knowledge of networking fundamentals and security best practices. Preferred Qualifications VMware certifications (e.g., VCF Specialist, VCP-DCV).Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE) or Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE).Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
