Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

What you'll be doing

The Data Manager, Non-Admitted will oversee the management of data from the non-admitted information systems, including Cerner Electronic Medical Records (eMR) Scheduling and patient administrative systems such as iPM. The Data Manager, Non-Admitted will provide specialised technical support for the management of non-admitted data systems within Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital to achieve business and service objectives. This role forms part of the Patient Information Systems unit within the Health Information Unit.

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience as determined by the Manager, Patient Information Systems
  2. Demonstrated experience working in non-admitted areas and extensive knowledge of non-admitted patient processes
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of clinical applications, such as Patient Administration Systems (PAS) and eMR Scheduling and associated functional requirements, including the ability to maintain data integrity, prepare, analyse and interpret statistics, data and reports.
  4. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office programs (Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, Microsoft Outlook, Effective Data Entry/ Key board skills)
  5. Proven excellent communication, negotiation, liaison and interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrated capacity to assist with the development and implementation of relevant policies, procedures, standards and practices.
  7. Demonstrated ability to maintain meticulous attention to detail and meet predetermined targets and deadlines, whilst being flexible and able to adapt work practices to suit circumstances.
