Location: Perth Closing Date: 2025-05-12 4:00 PM   A future focused and influential leader is sought for the position of Director General, Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration The Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration drives the responsible and sustainable development of Western Australia’s resources sector.

The department oversees resource development while ensuring improved environmental outcomes for mining, petroleum and exploration. As the regulator of the resource sector, the department is responsible for the assessment and approval of tenure for exploration and production, and management and assessment of applications, for the grant of minerals resource titles including native title assessment processes. The department is responsible for the Geological Survey of Western Australia, providing objective and authoritative geoscientific data, information and services to support the responsible use of the state’s natural resources.

The Director General will provide efficient and effective leadership to the department and contribute to the achievement of high level strategic goals for government and the sector. This includes expert and independent advice to Ministers and Government.
