About us
The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses.
Key Accountabilities
Lead and coordinate the development and delivery of cabinet, ministerial and parliamentary materials, coordinating timely and high-quality departmental advice and briefings, establishing and communicating processes, and providing authoritative ad-hoc advice and support on cabinet, ministerial services, and parliamentary matters.
Collaborate with and support the Executive Director and Deputy Secretary to develop and deliver high quality and timely advice on cabinet, ministerial, public administration and policy issues to the Secretary, departmental ministers, senior executives and other key stakeholders.
Initiate, manage and maintain effective relationships within DGS, central agencies, and key stakeholders.
Lead, motivate and support a diverse and high-performing team, offering executive-level oversight and guidance for the delivery of high quality ministerial, cabinet and coordination support for DGS. This includes oversight of the department's Departmental Liaison staff, and support for enhancing policy capability across the Division.
Lead the preparation of high-quality advice to the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, and other areas of the department on various policy and public administration matters as required, including the coordination of critical public administration advice for the Digital Transformation Group and DGS.
To be considered for the role, you must demonstrate:
Executive leadership skills and a track record of experience building high-performing teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Highly developed and applied understanding of government and public administration practices and frameworks.
Mandatory requirements
A relevant tertiary qualification; and/or a senior officer with a proven record in management in a large complex organisation.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering Ministerial, Cabinet and Parliamentary or other government business services in a complex multidisciplinary environment.
