Role

As a Director of Sales & Marketing you will work closely with the General Manager to lead our property’s Sales and Marketing function at the iconic Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Gold Coast.

We are looking for a dynamic, focused individual with proven management experience in leading their teams to success.  You will be knowledgeable in all areas of the hotel operation and comfortable in delivering standards within a 5 star environment. As an individual who holds yourself to high standards you will have a passion for delivering excellence for all our stakeholders, owners, Marriott International, our guests and our associates.

As a collaborative leader you understand that your success is reflective of the successes of your team. You work to support and mentor a dedicated team of experts within each operational department and inspire them with an entrepreneurial mindset that sparks innovation and creativity.

Sales Strategy & Execution

As the strategic leader of the Sales and Marketing Department, you will be responsible for managing both reactive and proactive sales efforts. You will:

  • Lead the development of strategic account plans across key market segments.

  • Monitor and adapt sales strategies in response to market trends, competitive insights, and economic conditions to maximise occupancy, RevPAR, and overall market share.

  • Actively participate in sales calls and strategy meetings to drive business acquisition and conversion.

  • Liaise with Marriott’s Area and Group Sales teams, Revenue Management, and Event Management to optimise cross-functional sales opportunities.

  • Oversee the end-to-end sales cycle – from generating proposals and contracts to ensuring a seamless handover to operations.

  • Analyse sales performance through tools like STAR reports and competitive shopping data to guide strategy and growth.

Marketing & Positioning

You will be responsible for enhancing the property’s visibility and positioning in the market by:

  • Developing and managing the marketing budget to deliver targeted campaigns, promotions, and brand-aligned collateral.

  • Partnering with Regional Marketing Communications to implement regional and national promotions.

  • Identifying and activating public relations opportunities to elevate brand recognition and demand generation.

  • Suggesting and deploying innovative marketing ideas to support business goals and boost revenue.

Customer & Community Relations

A key part of this role involves building strong and lasting relationships that drive loyalty and growth:

  • Serve as a brand ambassador and customer advocate, providing tailored solutions that meet and exceed expectations.

  • Foster deep connections with local organisations, businesses, and key clients to build awareness and create business opportunities.

  • Ensure an exceptional customer experience by delivering Marriott’s service standards at every stage of the guest journey.

Leadership & Talent Development

As a senior leader, you will provide vision and direction to the sales & marketing team, with a strong focus on talent, structure, and performance. You will:

  • Set clear goals, coach and mentor team members, and create accountability through effective performance management.

  • Champion a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Partner with HR to recruit top sales talent and support workforce planning.

  • Provide day-to-day leadership to achieve booking goals, increase revenues, and ensure ROI for the owner and Marriott International.

The Benefits

As an Associate of Marriott International you will have access to greater flexibility and benefits than ever before. Enjoy exclusive travel discounts across Marriott worldwide, paid parental leave and personal growth through world class training programs and strategic career development opportunities.

As a senior member of the executive committee, you are also eligible for health insurance, bonus incentives, onsite parking and dry cleaning.

This isn’t work with a side of life. This is Life with the Works.
