Role Overview:
We are looking for a superstar Disability Support Worker in a trauma-informed care environment. You will play a vital role in Supporting a 38 year old male. You will be responsible for offering consistent, patient support in various areas of daily living, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment. Your approach will prioritize respect, dignity, and a deep understanding of the impacts of trauma.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide personalized, trauma-informed care while assisting clients with activities of daily living such as Grooming (Shaving, Teeth). During overnight shifts, Medication management will also be essential.
• Encourage clients to engage in social, recreational, and community activities that promote healing and well-being.
• Assist with personal goals and life skill development, with an emphasis on emotional safety and trust.
• Maintain consistent and respectful communication with clients, promoting a safe space for open dialogue.
• Monitor clients’ health and well-being, documenting any concerns or changes in their condition.
• Manage active overnight respites when required, ensuring clients' comfort and safety.
• Collaborate with the participants team of 5 (Within our larger organization) to provide the highest quality of care and support, ensuring a trauma-sensitive and holistic approach.
• Participate in regular team meetings, providing valuable feedback and contributing to care plans.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Previous experience in a trauma-informed care setting is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of trauma and its impact on behaviour and well-being.
• Patient, consistent, and empathetic demeanour.
• Grounded in difficult or emotionally charged situations.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a small, close-knit team, Within our larger team.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster from 9:15 AM to 2:15 PM, Monday to Sunday, with some recurring shifts and occasional overnight respites.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
• NDIS Workers Screening Check
• Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
