The Role:
We’re looking for a compassionate, emotionally intelligent support worker to assist clients in the Merrylands area. This role is ideal for someone who’s confident in trauma-informed approaches, loves meaningful conversation, and understands how to foster independence without taking over.

Some clients may experience PTSD, anxiety, depression, or attachment challenges, and value support workers who provide calm presence, gentle guidance, and proactive suggestions to improve community connection and daily confidence.

In This Role, You’ll Be Trusted To:

• Build trust through supportive, consistent communication.

• Use grounding techniques and gentle distraction strategies for clients experiencing disassociation or anxiety.

• Validate and encourage progress to help boost self-worth and confidence.

• Be an excellent listener — your ability to create a safe space is key.

• Suggest local activities or skill-building ideas that suit each client.

• Assist clients with tasks rather than doing things for them — promoting independence is vital.

• Create a warm, positive connection that feels more like a teammate than a task worker.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• Cert III in Individual Support (Disability), or ongoing/completed study in Nursing, Medicine, or Allied Health.

• 12+ months’ experience in a support worker or similar capacity.

• NDIS Worker Screening Check & NDIS Orientation Module.

• Valid First Aid & CPR certifications.

• COVID-19 vaccination (including booster) & Infection Control Certificate.

• Driver’s license.

Nice to Have:

• Working With Children Check.

• National Police Check.

• Own vehicle for work use.

Details:

• Type: Casual, with potential for part-time or permanent positions.

• Location: Merrylands, NSW.

• Hours: Flexible roster including mornings, evenings, weekends, and sleepovers.

• Pay: Penalty rates apply as per applicable awards.
