Disability Support Workers (Males) - Complex Behaviour | Casual and Part-time

About the role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Male Disability Support Workers to join our team and provide high-quality care and support to a male participant with dementia. This rewarding role involves assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring the participant’s safety, comfort, and well-being. You will work with a team of professionals to ensure high-quality services and strive towards positive results for participants within an active setting.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide person-centred care and support tailored to the participant’s needs.
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, and daily living tasks.
  • Support the participant in engaging in meaningful activities and social interactions.
  • Monitor and manage behaviours associated with dementia in a calm and empathetic manner.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment at all times.
  • Collaborate with the participant’s family, healthcare professionals, and support team.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience in Dementia Support?

  • Previous experience in dementia care is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of dementia and its impact on individuals and families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster
  • Valid Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle (essential)
  • Have the flexibility to work on a 24/7 rotating roster, which includes days, evenings, awake shifts, sleepovers and weekend shifts
  • Have a current First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID0011) or willingness to obtain before commencing
  • Be willing to provide an NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) Clearance
  • Have the capacity to meet the physical requirements of the job, which may include manual handling tasks
  • Have good computer, communication, and interpersonal skills
