About the Role As part of their continued expansion, our client is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer with experience in distribution network design to join their Perth CBD office. In this role, you will tackle challenging engineering design projects for key clients, including Western Power and Horizon Power, while providing leadership and mentorship to their team of engineers and designers.Serving as a key interface with local utilities, you will deliver high-quality design services in a safe, reliable, and commercially responsible manner, contributing to building trusted relationships with clients. Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the subject matter expert in distribution connection and network design, adhering to Western Power and/or Horizon Power utility standards.Provide exceptional quality control support for the department, ensuring timely and high-quality design delivery to clients.Offer guidance and mentorship to engineers, helping them develop skills in creating compliant, constructible designs.Engage actively with customers, local authorities, landowners, and power utilities to develop scopes of work, using network investigations, data analysis, and standards to inform designs.Manage and complete complex design projects for customer-driven distribution network and connection projects, including commercial and generation connections, as well as large-scale underground power conversions.Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, managing interactions and ensuring mutual benefit.
Demonstrate a Proven Track Record in:Overhead power line and underground network design and modeling.Asset relocation, reinforcement, and upgrade design.Street lighting design, AutoCAD, and MicroStation drafting.Underground power network design (including subdivisions).
What You Need to Succeed
We are looking for individuals who share our passion for re-imagining engineering and who actively seek to shape the future through continuous learning.At least 5 years of experience in electricity distribution networks, particularly with Western Power and Horizon Power.A minimum of a BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.National Registered Engineer (NER) or Chartered Engineer certification (preferred but not essential).Proficiency in GIS, design, and drafting software.Experience in preparing designs, material lists, estimating connection costs, and obtaining customer approvals.Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.A project management mindset and a commitment to service excellence.A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.Australian residency.
