AIC Mines owns the Eloise Copper Mine located near Cloncurry, QLD.  Eloise is an underground mine with conventional crush-grind-float processing to produce a high-quality copper-gold concentrate.  AIC Mines has recently commenced an expansion of the Eloise operation following the acquisition of the nearby Jericho resource. The Company also owns a portfolio copper and gold exploration projects located across Australia.

About the position: 

We are seeking an experienced electrician to support the development and establishment of our new underground mine and associated infrastructure. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment and will work closely with a team of skilled professionals to ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations while maximising productivity and minimising downtime. 

Primarily, you will support the installation of surface and underground infrastructure required for single heading underground mine development and thereafter wider mine development and general site-wide electrical works. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation of electrical services and infrastructure to support underground mine development. 

  • Maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with relevant regulations and safety standards.

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and resolve electrical issues before they become critical.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults and breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.

  • Collaborate with other departments and teams to coordinate electrical maintenance activities and prioritise work orders.

  • Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, including work performed, materials used, and equipment condition.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulation.

  • Participate in safety meetings, toolboxes, and training sessions to promote a safe work environment.

  • Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in electrical systems and equipment maintenance.

The position is FIFO from Townsville, Cairns or Brisbane on an 8/6 roster.  Local candidates from Cloncurry or surrounding communities can commute via bus from Cloncurry and are encouraged to apply. 

Accommodation is provided onsite at the Eloise Copper Mine; 65km from Cloncurry. 

About You:

  • Possession of a valid QLD Unrestricted Electrical Workers License.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrician in a mining or heavy industrial environment, preferably with a focus on underground infrastructure and fixed plant.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and their maintenance requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience in fault finding, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems.

  • Familiarity with relevant electrical regulations, codes, and safety protocols.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and electrical diagrams.

  • Electrical trade certification (Cert 3) is essential. Dual trade in instrumentation or refrigeration (Cert 3 or 4) would be advantageous.

  • Current First Aid certification.

  • HV switching certified and experienced (desirable).

  • Confined space, working at heights, and EWP (Elevating Work Platform) tickets would be favourable.

  • Proven experience in undertaking electrical project work.

  • Proficiency in planned and unplanned maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including processing plant and power generation from diesel power stations.

  • Knowledge and experience in planned and unplanned maintenance of underground infrastructure, including sub-stations, switchboards, dewatering systems, and ventilation systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

  • We will offer upskilling training where required to the successful applicant/s.
