At SASH we are seeking a ECC nurses to join our Alexandria team.
You will play a vital role working closely with our patients throughout their entire SASH journey as part of Emergency and Critical Care.
SASH Alexandria is a purpose-built veterinary referral hospital close to Sydney’s CBD, we’re a model of multidisciplinary round-the-clock care to the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West and Southern Suburbs of Sydney
What your day-to-day looks like:
- Assist with and/or perform advanced interventions such as placement of central, PICC and arterial lines, direct arterial pressure monitoring, urinary catheter placement, feeding tube placement, high flow nasal oxygen provision, and mechanical ventilation
- Participate in and lead CPR resuscitation efforts
- Assist with admissions and discharges from the ICU
- Conduct and collect various laboratory samples for internal and external analysis
- Assist with transfer to and reception of critical care referrals from general practice veterinarians
- Support the emergency department with triage and procedural responsibilities
- Assist with critical care anaesthesia, including TIVA, in collaboration with anaesthetists within the SASH network

Who are we looking for? - Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing with minimum 2 years, full-time experience as a qualified nurse
- Demonstrated experience managing and prioritising tasks in a busy environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to confidently liaise with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Previous experience in emergency or specialist nursing would be highly regarded but is not essential.
If you have experience in emergency or specialist nursing working with general anesthesia & ventilation this will be highly regarding but not essential.
Training programs will be developed for the right person to support your ongoing learning and development!
