What You’ll Do
Based in our Perth Headquarters, the Environmental Adviser, will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance across Santos' operations and decommissioning activities. This position is responsible for preparing compliance reports, monitoring operations for regulatory adherence, and participating in environmental audits and incident investigations.
You will collaborate with project teams to secure necessary approvals, manage environmental risk assessments, and oversee third-party consultants conducting environmental monitoring. Working closely with the Environmental Manager, the role supports continuous improvement in HSE performance and ensures all activities meet regulatory expectations.
This position is offered as a fixed term contract for 2 years.
Key Accountabilities Include
Please note, occasional travel to Santos sites will be required for this role, on an as-needed basis.Provide environmental compliance support to the Environment Manager. Prepare and submit compliance reports as required by statutory environmental permits/licenses, ministerial statements etc. Monitor activities to ensure operations are carried out in accordance with safety and environmental approvals requirements and the Santos Management System (SMS).Participate in environmental auditing and reporting for operated facilities and activities. This includes compliance and contractors auditing, pre-mobilisation and on-site.Participate in investigations of significant environmental incidents on operating facilities as required.Monitor incident database and quality of incident/investigation reports and address identified non-conformance with superiors. Participate in ENVID, and other risk assessment workshops as required.Assist in reporting environmental incidents or dangerous occurrence to legislative bodies. Write, and assist in revising environmental specific plans and procedures as appropriate.Collaborate with operations and project teams regarding decommissioning projects to ensure approvals are in place for non-routine activities. Develop environmental management change documentation and assist in implementation of approved management of change processes as required. Manage 3rd party consultants conducting monitoring activities at Santos facilities when required and conduct technical reviews of consultants environmental monitoring reports. Support Environmental Approvals team to ensure outcomes are achieved.Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS) and Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.
What You’ll Bring
Significant experience within the Oil and Gas IndustryExperience working with HSE management systems, Safety Case, Environmental Plan, WA HSE legislation. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.Proficient written and verbal communicationAttentive and detail orientated Teritary qualified in Environmental Science/Engineering or relevant fields with extensive hydrocarbon industry experience or HSE.TBOSIET, CA-EBS, MISC, OGUK (can be obtained during appointment).
Desired experience
Worked with electronic management and incident reporting systems (eg.SAP and Landfolio).Knowledgeable in quality and safety management principals (IMO-ISM, SA4801 or OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001).Experience in Internal/External Auditor training.Experience working in operations, logistics, in either onshore, offshore and remote areas.
