The Company

For the last 30+ years, our client has manufactured purpose built pumping systems designed to their client’s requirements and specifications with a proven reputation of high quality, reliability and service.

Supplying to a wide range of industry sectors such as Mining, Construction, Heavy Industry and Oil & Gas our client has remained an industry leader through continual investment in infrastructure, personnel and product development.

From concept, design, manufacturing and delivery our client has a workforce of over 150 + dedicated employees that work across specialized departments, enabling them to have the “in-house” capabilities to remain highly competitive and deliver quality products.

 

Project Working Days & Hours

Our client has a large order where they are working outside of their normal working hours and are working 10 + hours days in order to get the job completed which is estimated to be 6 to 10 weeks.  All hours over 7.6 will incur X1.5 or X2 Overtime Rates.

  • Commencing: ASAP Start

  • Location: Canning Vale

  • Duration: 6 to 10 Weeks – Possible Extension – Possible Temp to Perm

  • Working Days: Monday to Friday & Every 2nd Saturday Morning

  • Working Hours – Mon to Fri: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM

  • Weekend Work: Every 2nd Saturday 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM (All X1.5 & X2 OT Rates)

 

The Role

The available role requires a very versatile candidate as the main responsibilities can be divided into the following categories which include;

  • Fabrication – Structural Steel, Plate & Pipe – 80%

  • Welding – MIG & TIG – 20%

We require candidates to be highly skilled Fabricator as this is the main responsibilities of this role. You will be working off the following plans;

  • AS Builds – Plans & Manufacturing Data Sheets

  • 3D Plans

  • Shop Drawings

With Fabricating side of the role you will be;

  • Working Off Drawings

  • Measure up Steel & Pipe

  • Cutting Steel – Drop Saw, Oxy

  • Cutting Pipe – Drop Saw & Bevelling Machine

  • Laying Out Steel

  • Tack Welding

The components that the Boiler Maker Welder will be fabricating include;

  • Structural Steel – Skids & Frames

  • Heavy Duty Trailers

  • Frames and stands on skids

  • Hand Rails, Stairs and Guards

  • Mounts – Engines, Pumps or Electrical Motors

  • Brackets and Lifting Points

  • Small Pipe Spools

  • Flanges

  • Manifolds

The welding and fabrication side of the work is approximately 20% of the work and requires the following experience;

  • MIG-GMAW Welding (Flux Cored Solid Wire)

  • TIG-GTAW Welding (Not Essential)

  • 1G, 2G and 3G Positions

The work requires a “switched on” Boiler Maker Welder that is able to pick up on small things such as flaws in the design / cut sheet, such as adding gussets to frames to strengthen them through to letting the Fabrication Supervisor that you may be short of steel in a few weeks and may need to order more.

 

The Candidate – Qualifications  

We are seeking a trade qualified candidate that has the following or similar qualification in the following;

  • Boiler Maker Welder

  • Heavy Fabricator & Welder

  • 1st Class Welder

  • Coded Welders

The Candidate - Fabrication Skills

As the role is predominately Fabricating and preparing steel for Welders, we require a candidate that is proficient in working off drawings and laying out steel.  This is essential.

The Candidate – Personality Traits

We are also seeking a proactive candidate that possess initiative and problem solving skills.  As you maybe working in a small team or autonomously, it is essential that the successful candidate is able to problem solve issues such as been able to layout steel and tack without assistance through to identifying design flaws that may need alterations through to coming up with practical ways to make the job more efficient to increase productivity.

Having excellent English communications skills is essential as you will be regularly liaising with the Fabrication Team Members, Fabrication Supervisor, Production Manager and Engineers in all facets of your work across estimating completing times, requiting materials or providing daily updates on your job progress.

We are also seeking candidates that possess the following;

  • Is a lateral thinker & problem solver that is proactive in identify areas that can be improved in a realistic and pragmatic way

  • Is able to work 10+ Hour Days  

  • Has excellent written & verbal communication skills

  • Be a team player that enjoys contributing to a shared goal

  • Be highly organised and able to prioritise and manage numerous tasks at the same time

  • Considers themselves as highly professional with an excellent work ethic

 

Remuneration

The pay rates below are casual pay rates where depending on your qualifications and skills the pay rate will be between;

  • $45.00 to $60.00 Per Hour  

  • Candidates with approx. 5 Years experience & an Aust Trade Qualified will be at Higher End of Pay Scale

  • + Over Time (X1.5 after 7.6 hours / X2 after 10.6 hours)

  • + Super (On Ordinary Hours)

  • Paid Weekly
