Did you know that there are federal elections jobs outside of polling places?

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is looking for people to work in our counting centres on and after election day.

Temporary Election Assistants work for 1 day to several weeks in our counting centres assisting with the packaging of materials, administrative tasks and counting ballot papers.

Most work happens on election night, however there is work available in the weeks after election day.

We’re looking for people who:

• Have an eye for detail

• Follow process well

• Work cooperatively in small teams.

No prior electoral experience is required, and you get on-the-job support as part of the team delivering world-class electoral services in Australia.

The AEC’s role is to successfully deliver the federal election with the highest levels of integrity. To work at the election, you must be politically neutral.

The AEC is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, from people of a culturally or linguistically diverse background and from people with disability.

Find out more about the roles on our website.
