We are seeking a Finance Manager. The role will be a permanent position reporting directly to our General Manager Finance & Company Secretary.

About the role

As a Finance Manager you will be responsible for the daily operations of Finance Department. These operations include financial, prudential and management reporting, maintenance of the general ledgers, cash receipts, cash payment and bank reconciliations, statutory compliance and management of Finance operational staff.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational

  • Managing and developing operational staff in the Finance Department including managing priorities to enable HLR Aus to meet its’ financial responsibilities

  • Preparing key financial outputs in accordance with timetables

  • Maintaining the integrity of data in the general ledgers

  • Ensuring appropriate effective controls are in place within Finance functions

  • Ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the payment, receipt and bank reconciliation process

  • Managing the cashflows and liquidity position of the various bank accounts and liaison with UBS, local investment manager

  • Liaising with Actuarial and Technical Accounting to obtain an understanding of the technical data in the general ledger

  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory, regulatory and Company obligations

  • Organising and managing external relationships with banks.

IFRS17 Financial Reporting

  • Being responsible for preparing reporting packages including Local quarterly reporting and quarterly & annual APRA & RBNZ submissions

  • Being responsible for the compilation of the annual financial statements for Australia and New Zealand

  • Assisting with the compilation of BACC & Board papers each quarter.

Payment Reporting Times Scheme (PTRS)

  • Being responsible for preparing the six-monthly PTRS report for the Board and its lodgement to the portal.

About You:

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Advanced level excel skills with an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics or equivalent

  • Intermediate to advanced level PowerBI skills

  • Demonstrated people and relationship management skills with a track record of leading and supporting high performing teams

  • Strategic thinking capabilities

  • Ability to liaise at Board and senior level

  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively

  • Clear and effective communication both written and verbal

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
