ICM Agribusiness Pty Ltd trading as Peechelba Beef runs a 27,000 head beef cattle feedlot that provides specialist feedlot rations to cattle. The property is spread over 685 hectares of fertile river flats with the feedlot constructed on the adjacent undulating terrain. The operation produces grain and fodder crops for use in mixed rations which are fed to cattle within the feedlot. We are seeking motivated and experienced Fitter-Welders to join our team. The Fitter-Welder will be a part of our maintenance team to ensure that all maintenance and repairs are conducted in a safe and efficient manner to limit down time due to break downs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings
2. Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment
3. Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments
4. Setting guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses, and setting controls for machines
5. Forming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal
6. Cutting, threading, bending and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
7. Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment
8. May erect machines and equipment onsite
9. Prepare and implement regular maintenance routines and maintain accurate records of these maintenance activities.
10. Ensure that the fencing and gates are in good condition and if repairs are required action them in a timely manner.
11. Assist in building and repairing tool and machinery attachments to assist in efficiency of other teams.
12. When necessary, and in consultation with the Maintenance Supervisor, arrange the outsourcing of repairs and services necessary to ensure compliance and minimise downtime.
13. Maintain the Maintenance office and workshop in an orderly manner and ensure an adequate stock of consumables and replacement parts are always on hand.
14. Follow all required Work Health and Safety policies and procedures while conducting your work.
Position Criteria:
1. Two years’ relevant experience, preferably with a general farming or broadacre crop farming repair and maintenance background.
2. Demonstrated ability to develop sound recommendations regarding preventative maintenance programs, repair and upgrade of equipment and the ability to maintain neat and accurate work records.
3. Demonstrated ability to work without supervision.
4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
5. Relevant TAFE/Tertiary qualifications.
6. Relevant WH&S certificates and a good working knowledge of safe work practices and requirements.
7. An ability to follow set protocols and ensure compliance with relevant animal welfare, safety, and QA requirements.
