About the role - Customs Compiler

As a Customs Compiler, your main responsibilities will include:
  • Accurately classify products to determine the correct tariff (HTS) codes, ensuring compliance with all relevant customs regulations.
  • Prepare, review, and submit comprehensive customs documents, declarations, and applications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary contact for customers regarding customs inquiries, providing timely and accurate information to facilitate smooth customs clearance processes.
  • Communicate effectively with government bodies to resolve issues and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on customs-related matters to internal departments and customers, helping to navigate complex regulatory environments.
  • Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and ensure that all practices and procedures comply with current laws.
  • Identify and resolve any customs clearance issues, working proactively to prevent delays and ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all customs-related transactions and documentation, ensuring easy retrieval and audit readiness.
  • Provide general administrative support to the customs team, including filing, data entry, and coordination of shipments.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge in customs procedures and regulations.

About the candidate
  • At least 1 year of experience with an International Freight Forwarder.
  • A solid understanding of import operations and customs procedures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience using CargoWise (CW1) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Customs Compiler Experience
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time
  • First-class communication skills - written and verbal
  • Attention to detail
  • Adequate knowledge of Customs Tariff
