Ceiling Prefab Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and professional Cabinet Maker to join our team. This position is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of custom cabinetry and ceiling components. As a Cabinet Maker, you will work closely with the Director and other team members to ensure that all work meets the highest standards of quality and precision. The role also involves the use of advanced machinery, including CNC machines, to ensure efficiency and accuracy in the production process 

Full Time Annualised Salary: $75,000 per annum plus super under Individual Flexibility Agreement

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Cabinet Making and Customised Fabrication: Internal manufacture of high-quality custom cabinetry and ceiling components. Such construction involved working with several types of materials, such as wood, MDF, plywood, and laminates, making sure that each product complies with specifications and is finished to the highest standards. 
  • CNC Machine Operation: Set up, program, and operate machines toward the cutting, shaping, and routing of materials, ensuring that all work be done in high precision. Regular maintenance and troubleshooting of the machines to ensure efficient and accurate running.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings: Reading as well as interpreting various technical plans and blueprints, both for cabinetry and ceiling components in their specs, for guaranteeing that what gets executed is in accordance with the wholly agreed designs of the customer. You will also size, cut, and assemble the materials according to the highest standards. 
  • Quality Control and Final Inspection: All products must be finished to high standards and with close attention to detail. It will involve continual checks of completed modules against client requirements as well as company quality control. 
  • Occupational health and safety requirements: Participation in all applicable occupational health and safety regulations and company safety practices. This applies to personal protective equipment use and tool and machine safety management. Organize a clean and safe working environment, and immediately report identified hazards or unsafe behaviours. 
  • Team work: Work as a team to effectively achieve project deadlines and ensure the smooth flow of work. Part of that is liaising across other trades and departments when needed, supporting this where possible to help ensure smooth project completion.
  • Customer Interaction: Talk to clients in a professional manner, especially when it comes to project specifications or updates. Receiving feedbacks from clients and making the necessary adjustments in a well-timed and professional manner

Qualifications & experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience: 

  • Proven experience in cabinet making, including custom cabinetry, ceiling components, and woodwork, with a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the trade.
  • Strong experience operating CNC machinery, including setting up, programming, and maintaining machines for cutting, shaping, and routing wood and other materials. A good understanding of machine operation, precision cutting, and troubleshooting is essential. 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from detailed technical drawings and specifications. Strong understanding of material properties, measurement techniques, and woodworking methods. 
  • Expertise in the use of standard hand tools and power tools used in cabinet making, including saws, drills, routers, sanders, and other relevant tools. Ensuring safe and efficient use of all equipment is critical. 
  • High level of precision and attention to detail in both the production process and the finished product. Ability to ensure all work is produced to the highest quality and client specifications. 
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues that may arise during the fabrication, installation, or finishing process. Capable of proposing improvements or changes to improve efficiency and quality. 
  • In-depth knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures, particularly around machinery and power tools. Adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. 
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. A professional and courteous approach to client and colleague interactions is essential.
