Fulltime – Yardman / Experienced Forklift Driver

This is an opportunity for an experienced Yardman / Forklift driver, to join an established family owned and operated business in the transport and logistics industry.  L Arthur Transport Services not only has a strong industry presence with 120+ years of experience in wharf cartage, container transportation, OOG heavy haulage, we are also a Warehousing and Customs licensed Bio-Security facility, operating over 4 sites across Melbourne.

About the Role
We have an opportunity for an experienced yardman / forklift driver to join our Machinery – Heavy Haulage team based on Footscray Road. This role offers fulltime hours on a casual payrate, view to permanency to the right candidate after qualifying period, regular overtime and immediate start is available.

The successful applicant will have prior experience in a similar role and hold the required license(s). Have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, be reliable & punctual, hardworking, be able to follow instructions and be dedicated to safe work practices.

Specific licenses & experience:

·         Forklift license – mandatory

·         HR Truck License – mandatory

·         Rigger ticket – preferred but not mandatory

·         Demonstrated experience operating 2 - 10 tone Forklifts

·         Load restraint experience (lashing / Dog & Chain) – desirable

Tasks & Responsibilities

·         Adhering to the Chain of Responsibility

·         Loading, unloading and restraining freight in a safe, secure and efficient manner

·         Adhering to Safety & Compliance directions including pre-start check lists

·         Good work ethic with the ability to show initiative & follow directions

·         Reliable with a good level of fitness – physical manual labour involved
