HD Mechanic

About Us:
SMS Mining Services, a privately owned West Australian mining contractor founded in 2000. We have evolved from equipment rental to encompass maintenance and contract mining divisions. Our mission is to enhance our reputation in the mining industry.

Our new Maintenance Services division are looking for qualified HD Mechanics to join our team on a Casual basis working at various sites within Western Australia.

About the role:

• Diagnose, overhaul, repair, tune, maintain and test diesel and petrol/gas-powered heavy equipment including trucks, buses, dozers and other earthmoving equipment.
• Detect mechanical and electrical faults by using instruments that check charging and starting circuitry, batteries, ignition and ignition timing, fuel injection systems and speed control, cylinder compression, engine condition, braking efficiency, and wheel balance and alignment.
• Repair and maintain the hydraulic components of diesel and petrol/gas engines that are used to power attachments such as hoists, booms, scrapers, buckets and augers.
• Completing break down works, general servicing, and component change outs.

What we are looking for: 

• Australian Trade Certificate
• Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology / Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Mobile Plant Mechanic) / Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
• Demonstrable experience working on mobile surface equipment (MEM)
• Experience on Caterpillar, Hitachi and Komatsu Mining Equipment
• Extensive diagnostic & fault finding skills, using CAT SYS
• Air Conditioning & Refrigeration licence (Desirable).
• Valid Manual C Class Driver's Licence - HR licence is preferred but not essential
