In this role as a HD Plant Mechanic, you should be able to carry out test, repairs, scheduled and unplanned maintenance on various Heavy mobile and plant mining equipment which include CAT, Hitachi, Komatsu, Liebherr, Atlas, Epiroc, Sandvik but not limited to these OEM fleets. The fleets include OH trucks, dozers, graders, loaders, excavators, drills, commercial road trucks and water trucks. Experience with component rebuilds and shutdowns on machine engines, transmissions, suspensions, electro-hydraulics troubleshooting, steering and hydraulic systems shutdowns will be highly regarded. Knowledge on Cat Sis, ET and other OEM systems is an added advantage. This work will be completed in a highly safe and team environment in liaison with team leads and customers site requirements. Roles available are Perth Metro, FIFO or DIDO 7/7, 8/6 and 2/1 Rosters across the Pilbara, South-West & Goldfields for immediate start.

Task & Responsibilities
- Scheduled and Unplanned Maintenance:
- Perform regular scheduled maintenance on various heavy mobile mining equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and site requirements.
- Conduct unplanned maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment is operational.
- Service and maintain mining equipment including but not limited to CAT, Hitachi, Komatsu, Liebherr, Atlas, Epiroc, and Sandvik fleets.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed, including parts used, time spent, and conditions encountered.
- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic issues in mining equipment.
- Utilize OEM diagnostic tools and software (e.g., CAT Sis, ET, etc.) for fault finding and repairs.
- Perform detailed troubleshooting on a variety of systems, including engines, transmissions, suspension systems, steering, and hydraulic systems.
- Ensure proper testing procedures are followed to diagnose problems in complex systems.
- Component Rebuilds:
- Carry out rebuilds and repairs of critical components such as engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems, adhering to OEM specifications and guidelines.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble components, ensuring high quality and reliability standards are met.
- Ensure that rebuilds are completed efficiently with minimal downtime for the equipment.
- Shutdown Maintenance:
- Assist in shutdown maintenance activities, including overhauls and inspections of major components.
- Coordinate with other team members to manage the timing and logistics of shutdown work, ensuring all necessary repairs and maintenance are completed on schedule.
- Support and implement site-specific shutdown plans, ensuring minimal disruption to site operations.
- Hydraulic and Electro-Hydraulic System Repairs:
- Service and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, motors, valves, and hoses.
- Troubleshoot and repair electro-hydraulic systems and other control systems as needed.
- Perform hydraulic and steering system overhauls and repairs to ensure safe operation and long-term reliability.
- Customer Liaison and Team Coordination:
- Collaborate with team leads and site managers to meet customer requirements and ensure effective and safe maintenance practices.
- Communicate with other team members to coordinate tasks, share information, and maintain a high level of safety on site.
- Ensure that work is completed within project timelines and to the satisfaction of internal and external customers.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, and compliance concerns promptly.
- Participate in safety meetings and trainings to stay updated on the latest safety standards and best practices in mining operations.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of all maintenance work, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure that all work orders, service records, and parts inventories are properly documented and updated in the system.
- Assist in the preparation of reports for management and customers as needed, providing updates on equipment status and maintenance activities.
Qualification & Experience
Experience:
- Post-Apprenticeship Training: 3 years (Required)
- Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic in a mining environment.
- Experience with maintenance and repairs on heavy mobile equipment (haul trucks, dozers, graders, loaders, excavators, drills, water trucks, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to perform complex diagnostics and repairs using OEM tools and systems (e.g., CAT Sis, ET).
- Experience with component rebuilds and shutdown maintenance, particularly on engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and hydraulics.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with supervisors, colleagues, and customers.
- Relevant trade qualifications and certifications (e.g., Heavy Duty Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering) are preferred.
- Experience in electro-hydraulic troubleshooting is an added advantage.
Licence/Certification:
- Australian Trade Recognition Certification (Required)
- Valid driver's license and the ability to operate heavy machinery are beneficial.
- Relevant trade qualifications and certifications (e.g., Heavy Duty Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering) are preferred.
