Due to recent acquisitions and growth, we are seeking an experienced and agile Head of Compliance, Australia & New Zealand to join the team in Sydney on permanent basis. 

Operating in a fast-paced, content-driven environment, this role covers all aspects of the Zurich Cover-More Group, including integration, strategy, and operations. You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with subject matter experts while playing a key role in navigating the increasingly complex compliance risk landscape. 

Salary: Competitive salary plus super plus annual bonus incentive and more 

So, what’s the job? 

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, you will be part of and work closely with the senior leadership team you will help identify and manage compliance risks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. 

  • You’ll be responsible for implementation of Group Compliance Management frameworks and risk-relevant local regulatory requirements 

  • You’ll lead compliance risk assessments, proactively identifying and managing risks through effective frameworks, training, and controls 

  • You’ll strengthen and maintain the compliance control framework to mitigate risks across the ANZ organization 

  • You’ll ensure the business meets obligations under Australian financial services licensing, corporate laws, and underwriter requirements 

  • You’ll design and execute the compliance assurance plan for ANZ, addressing incidents and monitoring related actions 

  • You’ll advise the business on customer-facing conduct risks in products, distribution agreements, and marketing 

  • You’ll prepare reporting materials for local boards and senior management while staying updated on regulatory trends 

  • You’ll lead and manage a small compliance team 

And what are we looking for? 

As the successful candidate, you will be able to lead and deliver exceptional compliance management to the business and our customers. 

  • You’ll bring extensive experience in financial services and regulatory compliance, with a strong understanding of the insurance industry 

  • You’ll have proven knowledge of AFSL and the Australian Corporations Act (with familiarity in the regulatory environment of New Zealand being a plus) 

  • You’ll hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in economics, business administration, risk and compliance, or law, along with relevant experience in these fields 

  • You’ll have strong analytical skills and the ability to deliver clear, actionable management information and reporting 

  • You’ll thrive in complex, large organizational environments and have the ability to build and manage relationships across various business lines 

  • You’ll possess excellent communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and project management skills, with strong advisory and consultative abilities
