Position Information

Robert Townson High School (FOEI 125) services the communities of Raby, Bow Bowing, Varroville and St Andrews, with additional students from Willowdale, Emerald Hills and areas within Denham Court. Our school celebrates diversity, including approximately 30 students within our Hearing Impairment Unit as well as students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. We have approximately 800 students with 42% of school population from English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) backgrounds and 60 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.


Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Approval to teach Creative and Performing Arts

2. Demonstrated expert knowledge of the Creative and Performing Arts curriculum and assessment practices with capacity to lead the development and implementation of differentiated teaching programs

3. Proven capacity to work as a highly effective and collaborative member of the school executive team to build a strong school culture

4. The ability to lead teachers in the analysis of data to inform strategic planning and implement evidence-based practice to improve student outcomes


General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
