Position Information

Casula High School is a coeducational, comprehensive educational setting that currently has 1250 students enrolled, including 4% Aboriginal students and 60% students from a non-English speaking background. The staff and parent groups at the school have a deep commitment to the school and the growth, wellbeing and learning of all students. Student motivation and achievement are enhanced through excellent quality teaching and learning programs, welfare structures and support programs that enhance the intellectual, creative, leadership, social and physical skills of students. The Student Representative Council (SRC) is a vibrant and committed student body that holds a high profile and plays an active role in the school. The staff and students are guided by the school values of courage, courtesy and concern, as these core principles support students as they strive to reach their full potential.


Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  1. Demonstrated curriculum expertise in PDHPE to collaboratively and energetically lead and motivate the faculty and drive teaching excellence within a school culture of high expectations. 
  2. Capacity to collaboratively contribute to the school executive team, demonstrating a shared responsibility for leading a culture of educational excellence that aligns with the school’s strategic directions and values.  
  3. Proven ability to lead and manage a team with diverse teaching experience, demonstrating capacity to collaboratively engage and inspire teachers to adopt innovative pedagogy and to inspire the potential of all students.
  4. Demonstrated highly developed inter-personal and communication skills to successfully lead, inspire and build upon the skills of diverse staff and students to promote a culture of teaching and learning excellence.  

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
